Thakurgaon, Sep 06 (V7N)- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is visiting his home district Thakurgaon for the first time since assuming office as the country's 23rd President.

The President will begin a two-day visit to Thakurgaon on Sunday (September 6), during which he will attend several programs, including laying the foundation stone of the proposed Thakurgaon University.

According to the official tour schedule, the President will leave Dhaka by helicopter at 10 am on Sunday and arrive at Mohammad Ali Stadium in Thakurgaon at around 11:40 am. From there, he will proceed to the Circuit House, where he will receive a guard of honor.

The President will then visit the graves of his father, former minister late Mirza Ruhul Amin, and mother Fatema Begum at the family cemetery in Senua Para. He will later visit his residence in Kalibari.

After lunch and a short rest, the President will attend a civic reception organized by the local civic committee at the Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School grounds in the afternoon. He will spend the night at his residence.

On the second day of his visit, the President will lay the foundation stone of the proposed Thakurgaon University in the Jamalpur area of Sadar Upazila, along the Thakurgaon-Pirganj road.

After completing the scheduled programs, he is expected to return to Dhaka by helicopter after visiting his residence and the Circuit House.
