Dhaka, Aug 31 (V7N)- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has praised the role of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in safeguarding the country's borders and urged the force to take stronger and more effective measures to prevent smuggling, drug trafficking, push-ins and border killings.

He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui at Bangabhaban on Monday.

During the meeting, the BGB chief congratulated the President on assuming office and briefed him on the force's overall activities. He also informed the President about plans to introduce state-of-the-art drones and modern technologies to enhance surveillance and security along the country's borders.

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir emphasized the importance of the BGB's vigilance in preventing smuggling, drug trafficking and human trafficking through the border.

He praised the force's initiative to incorporate advanced technology into its operations and assured the BGB of overall cooperation in strengthening border security.

The President's secretaries and senior officials were present during the meeting.
