Dhaka, Mar 02 (V7N) — The ongoing conflict in the Middle East following the joint Israel–United States attack on Iran has claimed the lives of two Bangladeshis and injured seven others in various countries, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
In a statement on Monday, the ministry reported that Saleh Ahmed from Sylhet was killed by debris in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. Another Bangladeshi was killed and three others were injured in Bahrain. Meanwhile, four Bangladeshis were injured in a drone attack in Kuwait and are currently receiving medical treatment.
The government also confirmed that the Bangladesh Shipping Corporation’s vessel, 'Banglar Joyjatra', is stranded at the Jebel Ali port in the UAE, although all sailors aboard are safe.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised all Bangladeshi expatriates in the region to remain on high alert and follow safety instructions. Special hotlines have been activated for Bangladeshis in the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar to provide immediate assistance.
Bangladesh has expressed deep grief over the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, condemning the attack as a violation of international law. Dhaka called for resolving the dispute through dialogue and stressed the need to avoid further conflict in the region.
The government continues to closely monitor the situation and coordinate with embassies to ensure the safety and well-being of Bangladeshi citizens abroad.
