Dhaka, Sep 02 (V7N) – The Police Headquarters has announced that a total of 34 cases filed during the recent student-public uprising against discrimination have been formally charged. Among them, 13 are murder cases, while the remaining 21 fall under other criminal sections.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the 13 murder cases were filed in Sherpur, Feni, Chandpur, Comilla, Dhaka, and Kurigram districts, as well as under the jurisdiction of the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), Rajshahi Metropolitan Police, and Chittagong Metropolitan Police.
Meanwhile, the 21 other cases were registered in Bogra, Chapainawabganj, Sirajganj, Pabna, Naogaon, Mymensingh, and Jamalpur districts, along with the jurisdictions of the Dhaka, Barisal, and Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.
Police figures show that 1,390 individuals have been accused in the murder cases, while 777 individuals are accused in the other cases.
Senior police officers are directly supervising these cases to ensure fair investigation. The Police Headquarters further stated that the Bangladesh Police is making “all-out efforts” to complete the investigations swiftly and bring those responsible to justice.
