Kathmandu, Sep 05 (V7N)- The death toll from the devastating disaster along the Nepal-Tibet border has risen to 1,365, with 1,344 deaths reported in Nepal alone.
The Nepal Police Department said on Saturday (September 5) that more than 4,850 people remain missing. The search for more than 900 hydroelectric project workers is continuing on the 10th day since the disaster.
On Friday, rescuers managed to pull two people alive from an underground tunnel, while one body was also recovered.
Rescue teams are still hoping to find at least 46 people alive inside the tunnel. More than 21,000 members of the Nepalese Army and police are participating in the rescue operation, joined by rescuers from several countries, including China and India.
Meanwhile, 21 people have been confirmed dead in Tibet, while more than 550 others remain missing.
Authorities are continuing search and rescue operations across the disaster-hit areas as efforts intensify to locate those still missing.
