Kathmandu, Aug 31 (V7N) — The death toll from last week’s devastating floods in Nepal has risen to 903, while 4,247 people remain missing, according to the country’s disaster management authority.
The latest figures were released by Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) on Monday (August 31), CNN reported.
According to the authority, emergency response teams have so far rescued 10,451 people from flood- and landslide-affected areas.
The disaster has caused widespread destruction across several parts of Nepal, with homes, roads, bridges and other infrastructure damaged or swept away by floodwaters and landslides.
Rescue and search operations are continuing in affected areas as emergency workers try to locate those still missing. Authorities fear the death toll could rise further as teams reach remote and severely damaged areas.
