Kathmandu, Aug 28 (V7N)- The death toll from the devastating floods and landslides in Nepal has risen to 390. At least 1,500 people are still missing, according to the country's police on Friday (August 28) morning.
The Nepalese government fears the death toll could rise further as rescue teams continue operations in the worst-affected areas, Al Jazeera reported.
More than 500 foreign nationals are among those missing, according to Nepalese police and tourism officials. China's Foreign Ministry said around 100 Chinese nationals were among those missing in Nepal.
Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li Keqiang visited the landslide-hit area of Tibet on Thursday afternoon, a day after the disaster. State media reported that he issued instructions to accelerate emergency rescue and relief operations.
Rescue efforts in Nepal are facing significant challenges. Several roads and bridges have been severely damaged by the floods and landslides, making it difficult for rescue teams to reach affected areas and search for survivors.
Authorities are continuing search and rescue operations while assessing the extent of damage caused by the disaster.
