Bangladesh faced a dramatic batting collapse, losing all 10 wickets for just 42 runs, but managed to secure a narrow five-run victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth T20 match at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Initially, Bangladesh seemed on track for a formidable total with openers Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Soumya Sarkar building a strong foundation with a 101-run opening partnership. However, the collapse saw Bangladesh bundled out for a modest 143 runs in 19.5 overs.
Despite the batting woes, Bangladesh's bowling attack, spearheaded by the returning Shakib Al Hasan, proved decisive in defending the total. Shakib claimed 4 wickets for 35 runs, while fast bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed contributed with 3 wickets for 19 runs and 2 wickets for 20 runs respectively.
Zimbabwe, in their chase, struggled to contend with Bangladesh's bowling pressure, eventually falling short at 138 all out in 19.4 overs. Fast bowler Luke Jongwe was the standout performer for Zimbabwe, taking 3 wickets for 20 runs, while Jonathon Campbell top-scored with 31 runs.
Despite a valiant effort from Campbell and Ryan Burl, Zimbabwe's batting lineup failed to overcome the required target, succumbing to Bangladesh's disciplined bowling attack.
With this victory, Bangladesh secured a 4-0 lead in the five-match series. The final match is scheduled for Sunday, where both teams will aim to end the series on a high note.
