PARIS, MAY 27 (V7N) – Cristiano Ronaldo indicated on Monday that his tenure with Saudi club Al Nassr may be coming to an end, hours after the Saudi Pro League concluded. The 40-year-old Portuguese forward, whose contract with Al Nassr is set to expire this summer (June 30, 2025), cryptically stated on social media that "This chapter is over."

His post, accompanied by a photo of him in an Al Nassr shirt, continued, "The story? Still being written. Grateful to all."

This announcement comes as a special transfer window, from June 1-10, opens to allow the 32 clubs participating in the expanded FIFA Club World Cup to sign players. Al Nassr did not qualify for the Club World Cup, unlike fellow Saudi side Al Hilal.

FIFA president Gianni Infantino last week hinted at the possibility of the former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Sporting Lisbon star playing at the enlarged tournament, which kicks off in the United States on June 14. During an interview with YouTuber and streamer IShowSpeed, Infantino remarked, "And Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup. There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup... who knows, who knows."

Al Nassr lost in the semi-finals of the Asian Champions League last month to Japan's Kawasaki Frontale and finished third in the Saudi Pro League. Ronaldo was the league's top goal scorer with 24 goals.

Last year, the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had suggested he could end his career with Al Nassr. Notably, Ronaldo's long-time rival Lionel Messi is confirmed to play at the Club World Cup with Inter Miami.
