Moscow, Oct 28 (V7N)- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has said that Middle Eastern countries are capable of resolving their regional problems independently, without assistance from the United States, according to Xinhua.

Pezeshkian made the remarks during a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Tuesday (October 27), on the sidelines of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) summit.

During the meeting, the Iranian president expressed interest in expanding bilateral trade between Iran and Russia. He said unilateral actions by the United States in the Middle East had created opportunities for greater multilateral cooperation and closer ties among countries facing US sanctions.

Pezeshkian also stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation among nations subject to American sanctions, highlighting the potential for deeper economic and diplomatic partnerships.

Meanwhile, Putin expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. However, the Russian president voiced optimism that the volatile situation would soon come to an end and develop in a more positive direction.

The two leaders also discussed ways to expand bilateral cooperation in several areas, including culture, security and military affairs.

The meeting underscored the two countries’ interest in strengthening their strategic and economic partnership amid regional tensions and continuing international sanctions.
