The blockade was organized by the Sajek Public Rights Protection Committee and the Sajek Karbari Association to press for the fulfilment of five demands.
The disruption has affected tourism businesses in the area, causing financial losses. Residents of the remote region are also facing difficulties obtaining essential daily commodities due to the interruption of road connectivity.
Meanwhile, law enforcement agencies have increased patrols in an effort to maintain order and keep the situation under control.
On Monday, the administration held a meeting with the protesters, during which an agreement was reached on four of their five demands. However, the meeting ended without a complete resolution because of disagreements over setting a specific deadline for the removal of armed members of the Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), associated with the Santu Larma faction, from the Sajek area.
Further discussions are underway in an effort to resolve the remaining dispute and restore normal movement.
The blockade began on October 22, with protesters demanding the fulfilment of five points, including the removal of armed PCJSS members from the Sajek region.
The continued disruption has raised concerns over the movement of people and essential supplies, as well as the economic impact on businesses dependent on tourism.
