Tehran, Apr 15, (V7N) - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on Wednesday that Iran does not seek war or regional instability, according to a report by the state news agency IRNA. During a visit to various emergency service departments in Tehran, the President emphasized that while Iran values peace, any attempt by the United States to impose its will or force the nation to surrender would result in failure.
President Pezeshkian warned that the Iranian people will never accept external pressure or coercion. He questioned the justification of recent military actions under international law and humanitarian principles, specifically highlighting the targeting of civilians, prominent figures, and children, as well as the destruction of critical infrastructure such as schools and hospitals.
In a contrasting development, US President Donald Trump claimed that the conflict with Iran is "coming to an end soon." Speaking in a broadcast interview with Fox News, Trump expressed his belief that the war is on the verge of concluding, asserting that his administration’s military pressure was a necessary move to prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
The US President further claimed that the damage inflicted by American strikes on Iranian infrastructure is so severe that it would take the country at least 20 years to rebuild. Trump reiterated his stance that the economic and military pressure has left Iran "desperate" to finalize a new diplomatic agreement with Washington.
While Tehran maintains a firm stance against surrender and highlights the humanitarian cost of the conflict, the rhetoric from Washington suggests a belief that a final resolution is imminent. The international community continues to monitor these developments closely as the April 22 ceasefire deadline approaches.
