Chattogram, Aug 5 (V7N) - State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts Affairs Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin has said the government would ensure justice for all those affected by the July Massacre, vowing that no one involved in the killings and atrocities committed during the 17-year democratic movement will be spared.

He made the remarks as chief guest at a programme titled 'Discussion on the Significance of the July Mass Uprising, Reception for Families of July Martyrs and July Fighters' at the Chattogram District Shilpakala Academy, organized by the district administration to commemorate July Mass Uprising Day.

Mir Helal described the July Uprising as a spontaneous mass movement that emerged with participation from people across all walks of life, beyond political affiliations. He stressed the need to preserve the unity forged during the anti-fascist movement at all costs.

"Despite our political differences, we must not allow them to weaken our anti-fascist national unity. Whenever the spectre of fascism re-emerges, we will stand united in resistance, and the people of this country will confront it together," he said.

The state minister said the oppression and injustices committed by the Awami fascist regime over the past 17 years were unprecedented. "As a result, Sheikh Hasina will never be able to return to this country because the people will never give her that opportunity again," he added.

During the programme, the families of the July martyrs were honoured with flowers. Later, the chief minister and other guests distributed prizes among winners of various competitions organized to mark July Mass Uprising Day.

Mohammad Abu Sufian, MP, Divisional Commissioner Dr Mohammad Zia Uddin, DIG of Chattogram Range Abdul Quddus, BCB Director Israfil Khasru, CDA Chairman Engineer Belayet Hossain, NCP leader Arif Moinuddin, the mother of Shaheed Faisal Ahmed Shanto, Chattogram Metropolitan Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Nazrul Islam and Chattogram District Police Superintendent Masud Alam, among others, also addressed the function.
