Tehran, Mar 20 (V7N) – General Ali Mohammad Naini, spokesperson for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), was killed in a joint US-Israeli missile attack, the IRGC confirmed on Friday.

According to Iran’s state-owned Tasnim News Agency, Naini was targeted in the early hours of Friday in what the IRGC described as a “cowardly terrorist attack by the American-Zionists.” He had been serving as the IRGC spokesperson since 2024. There was no immediate comment from either the United States or Israel regarding the attack.

Just hours before his death, Naini had publicly challenged the United States, rejecting former US President Donald Trump’s claim that “Iran’s navy has been destroyed.” He warned that Tehran continues to develop missiles despite ongoing attacks and dared the US to send ships to the Gulf.

Naini’s death comes amid a series of recent high-profile killings in Iran. Earlier this week, Iranian Intelligence Minister Esmail Khatib was killed in an Israeli strike. On Tuesday, Israeli forces also targeted and killed Gholamreza Soleimani, commander of the IRGC’s Basij force, and Ali Larijani, head of Iran’s Security Council, in separate attacks.

The situation has further escalated tensions in the region, raising concerns over possible retaliatory measures from Tehran.
