Tehran, Mar 18 (V7N) – Iran’s ancient fire festival, Chaharshanbe Suri, was celebrated across the country on Tuesday evening despite ongoing conflict and heightened security measures.

As night fell, streets were lit with bonfires and fireworks, with citizens taking part in traditional festivities in various cities.

Authorities had earlier warned people against organizing public gatherings, citing the ongoing war situation and concerns over security risks. Strict advisories were issued to discourage large-scale celebrations.

Despite the warnings, many Iranians went ahead with the celebrations, with some observers noting that the festival has also taken on the tone of a symbolic expression amid the tense environment.

Chaharshanbe Suri, traditionally observed on the eve of the last Wednesday before Nowruz, marks a cultural celebration of renewal. This year, however, it unfolded under the shadow of conflict, tight security, and widespread uncertainty.
