New York, June 21 (V7N) – Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, has condemned Israel’s attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, calling them a “dangerous precedent” with potentially catastrophic consequences. Speaking before the UN Security Council, the Chinese envoy urged Israel to declare an immediate ceasefire to prevent further deterioration of the already fragile situation in the Middle East.

“The attacks on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure by Israel have set a highly dangerous precedent,” Fu said. “Such actions could spiral into uncontrollable consequences, threatening not just regional stability, but international peace and security.”

Fu Cong expressed deep concern over the rising tensions between Israel and Iran, noting that escalation between two major regional powers—particularly involving nuclear-related sites—could lead to a broader conflict with devastating repercussions.

“The international community must act swiftly and responsibly,” he added, emphasizing China’s support for diplomatic solutions and multilateral dialogue. He reiterated Beijing’s commitment to upholding the principles of the United Nations Charter and the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

The Chinese diplomat also warned that continued military operations in or around sensitive nuclear sites could undermine global non-proliferation efforts and weaken the credibility of international agreements meant to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons.

Fu's remarks were delivered during an emergency session of the UN Security Council convened to address the recent escalation following Israeli strikes on multiple Iranian targets, including a reported attack on the Khondab Heavy Water Research Reactor.

Calls for de-escalation have grown louder across global diplomatic circles, as several UN member states echoed China’s concerns, urging restraint and a return to dialogue.
