Ahmedabad, Jun 04 (V7N) – Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have been crowned champions of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the first time, securing a prize money of ₹20 crore after their emphatic victory over Punjab Kings in the final held at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Tuesday night.

RCB’s long-awaited triumph marks a historic moment in IPL’s 18-year history, as the franchise finally lifted the coveted trophy after multiple near-misses in previous seasons.

IPL Prize Money Hits Record High

Since its inaugural season in 2008—when the winning team was awarded ₹4.8 crore—the IPL’s prize purse has steadily grown. In 2025, the champion's share has reached ₹20 crore, a reflection of the league’s soaring popularity and financial success.

This year, the total prize pool exceeded ₹47 crore, distributed among the top four teams and individual performers:

  • Champions (RCB): ₹20 crore

  • Runners-up (Punjab Kings): ₹13 crore

  • Qualifier 2 Elimination Team: ₹7 crore

  • Eliminator Exit Team: ₹6.5 crore

RCB's victory not only broke their championship drought but also captured the hearts of cricket fans across the globe. With the IPL recognized as the most lucrative and widely followed franchise cricket tournament in the world, the stakes—both in prestige and prize money—remain higher than ever.

RCB’s win is being hailed as a moment of redemption for the franchise, which had previously reached the final three times but fell short each time. This time, they turned the tide and etched their name in IPL history.
