Dhaka, June 12 (V7N)– Water levels at nearly 80% of Bangladesh's monitored river stations have risen, while a smaller number have recorded a decrease, according to the latest bulletin from the Flood Forecasting and Warning Centre (FFWC).
Out of 116 river stations currently under observation, 93 registered a rise in water levels, and 19 showed a fall. Four stations reported steady water levels. Crucially, the FFWC confirmed today that water levels in all major rivers across the country are currently flowing below their respective danger levels.
The bulletin indicates a continued downward trend for the Brahmaputra-Jamuna rivers, a pattern expected to persist for the next five days, keeping them below the danger mark. Similarly, the Ganges-Padma rivers are also experiencing decreasing water levels. The Ganges is anticipated to stabilize, while the Padma's water level is projected to continue falling for the next five days, remaining below the danger threshold.
In the northeastern region, the Surma and Kushiyara rivers are also seeing decreasing water levels. This trend is expected to continue for the next three days, with both rivers remaining below the danger level.
Despite the fluctuations, the current situation suggests no immediate flood threat, with all monitored rivers maintaining levels well within safe parameters.
