JHALOKATHI, July 28 (V7N) – A written complaint has been filed with Rajapur Police Station in Jhalokathi over an alleged misleading and defamatory Facebook post involving Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and State Minister VP Nurul Haque Nur.
The complaint was lodged on Monday night by Md Monir Howlader, a resident of Angaria village in Rajapur upazila and member secretary of the Upazila Gono Odhikar Parishad.
A resident of Jagairhat area, Mohibullah Mohib, has been named as the accused in the complaint.
According to the complaint, the accused has allegedly been spreading false, fabricated, and baseless information about various individuals, political leaders, and local residents through his personal Facebook account for a long time.
The complainant alleged that despite being warned several times, the accused continued posting such content.
The complaint stated that around 10:00 pm on July 26, the accused published a post on his personal Facebook account regarding Acting President Hafiz Uddin Ahmed and State Minister VP Nurul Haque Nur, which the complainant claimed contained false and misleading information.
The complainant further alleged that when local residents requested the accused to remove the post, he used abusive language against the complainant, his family members, and others, and also issued threats of physical harm.
The complaint sought a proper investigation into the matter and legal action against those responsible.
At the time of filing the complaint, Central Joint General Secretary of Bangladesh Jubo Odhikar Parishad Syed Rasel Mun, Rajapur Upazila Gono Odhikar Parishad Member Secretary Md Monir Howlader, Joint Convener of the upazila unit Mohiuddin Howlader, and Jhalokathi District Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Joint General Secretary Alamin Saju were present.
The accused Mohibullah Mohib could not be reached for comments.
Rajapur Police Station Sub-Inspector Mirajul Islam said the complaint would be investigated and further legal action would be taken based on the findings.
