New Delhi, Jul 24 (V7N)- The Indian government has replaced Union Education Secretary Vineet Joshi amid mounting criticism over the recent question paper leak controversy that has sparked nationwide protests and demands for accountability.
According to a government notification issued late Thursday (July 23), Naresh Gangwar has been appointed as the new Union Education Secretary, replacing Vineet Joshi with immediate effect.
The decision comes as political pressure continues to intensify over the alleged examination paper leaks. Protesters and opposition parties have called for a transparent investigation and demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the issue.
Reacting to the development, BJP Member of Parliament Nishikant Dubey said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had ordered the transfer of the Education Secretary over alleged negligence in addressing the question paper leak. He added that strict action would be taken not only against those directly involved in the leak but also against officials found guilty of negligence or administrative failure.
In a parallel move, Indian authorities have established a fast-track court to expedite the hearing of cases related to the examination paper leaks. The court was constituted late Thursday with the aim of ensuring a swift judicial process.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is also expected to announce stricter measures on Friday to strengthen examination security and hold those responsible accountable, according to government sources.
The question paper leak controversy has triggered widespread concern across India, with students, parents and educators calling for reforms to safeguard the integrity of the country's examination system.
