HABIGANJ, June 10, (V7N) – Under the initiative of the Bangladesh Village Court Activation (Phase 3) Project, a colorful rally, video exhibition, and annual campaign were held at the Piam Public Library premises of Chhatiain Union in Madhabpur Upazila to raise public awareness about village court activities. The program was organized on Wednesday afternoon.
The main objective of the program was to inform the general public about the role of village courts in resolving minor disputes at the local level quickly, easily, and at low cost, as well as their various benefits. At the beginning, an awareness rally was taken out from the PIAIM Public Library premises, which circled various important roads in the area before ending at the venue.
Minhaj Uddin Chowdhury Kased, Chairman of Chhatiain Union Parishad, was present as the chief guest. In his speech, he said the village court is an accessible, fast, and effective judicial system for rural people. Through it, common people are saved from time, money, and suffering as minor disputes are settled at the local level.
The program was moderated by Zubair Ahmed, Upazila Coordinator of the project, and addressed by UP Secretary Tofazzal Hossain Liton, Office Assistant Rajib Akonji, and Subodh Sarkar. An informative video was shown highlighting the various legal processes and facilities of the village court.
It was informed at the meeting that there is an opportunity to file and settle cases in the village court regarding disputes or compensation worth up to Tk 3 lakh. As a result, common people are getting the opportunity to obtain justice in a short time and at low cost. Union Parishad members, local dignitaries, women representatives, and people from different walks of life participated in the event.
