Dhaka, Jun 3 (V7N) – The defense phase in the Ramisa rape and murder case is scheduled to begin today following the testimony of the accused, Sohel Rana and his wife, Swapna Khatun. During this stage of the trial, the accused will have the opportunity to present arguments, evidence, and statements in support of their defense and attempt to establish their innocence before the court.

Special Public Prosecutor Azizur Rahman Dulu said that a date for the presentation of final arguments will be fixed after the completion of the defense proceedings.

Earlier, the testimony phase of the case concluded in a single day after charges were formally framed. A total of 16 witnesses, including members of Ramisa’s family, police officials, and magistrates, provided testimony before the court.

According to information presented during the hearing, witness statements revealed significant details regarding the circumstances surrounding Ramisa’s death. The victim’s family has demanded exemplary punishment for those responsible for the rape and murder of their daughter.

The case has drawn widespread public attention, and the next stages of the trial are expected to be closely followed as the court moves toward final arguments and judgment.
