Madāripūr, Aug 17 (V7N) — The wife of a Spanish expatriate has filed an accusation against two neighbors for ransacking her family’s home in Dasar, Madāripūr’s Gopalpur Union. According to the complainant, the incident occurred around 10:00 PM on Wednesday (13 August) at their residence in East Puyāli village.
Rubīya Begum, the complainant and spouse of Syed Abdul Alim, recounted that two local youths—Mir Dalim and his younger brother Mir Bappi, sons of Mir Enayet Hossain—attacked their home wielding homemade weapons and sticks. The assailants entered the house before the family could respond, smashing a display case, a cupboard, and damaging an oven and a refrigerator.
Begum added that while her elder son Masud is currently in Spain and her younger son Polash resides in Dhaka, she and her daughter—who works as a manager for the BRAC NGO—were alone at home during the attack. The intruders reportedly stole Tk 50,000 in cash and three tolas of gold jewelry from the display case.
She dialed emergency services 999 seeking police assistance, but the attackers fled before authorities arrived on the scene. The next morning, a formal complaint was lodged at the Dasar police station, and the police subsequently inspected the premises. "I demand justice against these terrorists," Begum asserted.
When approached, Mir Dalim’s mother responded that he is unwell and unable to comment, asking for follow-up contact at a later time.
Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Sheikh Mohammad Ehe-Tashamul Islam confirmed receipt of the written complaint and stated that an investigation is underway and appropriate action will be taken based on its findings.
