Dhaka, June 25 (V7N)- The Bangladesh Jewellers Association has reduced the price of gold ornaments in the domestic market by up to Tk 2,216 per bhori (11.664 grams), setting the new price of 22-carat gold at Tk 223,074 per bhori.

The announcement was made in a press release issued by BAJUS on Thursday (June 25). The revised prices came into effect from 10:00 a.m. the same day.

According to the statement, the new rates were unanimously approved at a meeting of BAJUS's Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring after reviewing the overall market situation.

Under the revised pricing structure, the price of 22-carat gold has been fixed at Tk 223,074 per bhori. The price of 21-carat gold has been set at Tk 213,043 per bhori, while 18-carat gold will now cost Tk 182,950 per bhori.

Meanwhile, the price of traditional gold has been set at Tk 149,474 per bhori.

BAJUS stated that the new rates will remain effective at all jewelry establishments across the country until further notice. However, making charges will continue to vary depending on the design and craftsmanship of the jewelry.

The association also clarified that Value Added Tax (VAT) is already included in the selling price of gold jewelry and therefore cannot be charged separately from customers.
