Miami, Jun 25 (V7N)- Brazil forward Vinícius Júnior etched his name into World Cup history after scoring in all three group-stage matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Real Madrid star scored twice in Brazil's 3-0 victory over Scotland at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Thursday (June 25), taking his tournament tally to four goals in three matches and becoming only the fifth Brazilian player to score in every group-stage game of a World Cup campaign.
Vinicius opened the scoring in the seventh minute after capitalizing on a defensive error and calmly finishing from Ryan's pass. He struck again in first-half stoppage time, heading home a cross from Bruno Guimarães to double Brazil's advantage.
The Brazilian forward had already found the net in the Seleção's previous two group-stage matches, scoring once against Morocco and once against Haiti.
Before Vinicius, only four Brazilian legends had achieved the feat of scoring in all three group-stage matches at a World Cup. Jorginho accomplished it during the 1970 tournament, Romário repeated the achievement in 1994, while Ronaldo and Rivaldo both reached the milestone during the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea and Japan.
The statistic carries an additional significance for Brazilian fans. On each previous occasion that a Brazilian player scored in all three group-stage matches, Brazil went on to lift the World Cup trophy.
With Vinicius in outstanding form and Brazil advancing to the knockout stage as Group C champions, supporters will hope history repeats itself once again for the five-time world champions.
