Dhaka, Sep 27 (V7N)- Three people have been arrested in connection with the attack and vandalism at New Guinea Properties in South Manikdi, near the capital's ECB Chattar, and the studio of content creator Salman Muqtadir.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Joint Commissioner Mohidul Islam disclosed the information at a crime-related press briefing on Sunday afternoon, September 27.
He said police have not yet been able to confirm the identities of all those involved in the attack. However, he assured that those responsible would be brought to justice.
Police suspect that the incident may have originated from a dispute over land possession, according to the DMP official.
The incident took place at around 10pm on Saturday, September 26, when a group of armed individuals allegedly attacked New Guinea Properties in South Manikdi.
Eyewitnesses said more than 100 masked individuals arrived in several pickup trucks and allegedly opened fire indiscriminately before carrying out vandalism at the housing project.
During the attack, CCTV cameras installed across the housing complex were reportedly destroyed. Several people were allegedly assaulted, while valuable items were also looted.
Housing authorities previously claimed that approximately Tk 1 crore was stolen from the project's office during the incident.
The studio of content creator Salman Muqtadir was also reportedly attacked and vandalized during the same incident.
Police said the investigation is continuing and further action will be taken against those found responsible.
