Dhaka, Sep 21 (V7N)- President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called for greater emphasis on technical and technological education to help reduce unemployment and develop a skilled workforce.
He made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with a delegation led by Jagannath University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Rais Uddin at Bangabhaban on Monday.
The President and Chancellor of the universities also inquired about the progress of Jagannath University's second campus and stressed the need to further improve the quality of education at the institution.
Professor Rais Uddin briefed the President on the university's overall academic activities and ongoing development initiatives. Jagannath University's official website confirms that Rais Uddin has served as vice-chancellor since March 2026.
During the meeting, the vice-chancellor emphasized the importance of students becoming proficient in multiple languages to keep pace with global developments. He particularly highlighted the need for students to learn a third language.
The university delegation also discussed efforts to strengthen academic standards and prepare students for changing national and international employment opportunities.
The President has previously emphasized the importance of vocational and technical education for developing skilled manpower and expanding employment opportunities, including overseas employment.
Professor Rais Uddin formally invited the President, in his capacity as Chancellor, to attend the university's upcoming convocation ceremony.
