TANGAIL, April 15 (V7N) – Prime Minister Tarique Rahman today inaugurated a Baishakhi agricultural fair at Poura Udyan in Tangail town, following the launch of the Farmer Card distribution programme earlier in the day.
The Prime Minister also offered ziarat at the grave of Mazlum Jananeta Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani at Santosh in Sadar Upazila around 5:00 pm, where he recited Fateha and prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul. He later visited Bhasani’s residence in Santosh and signed the visitors’ book.
Liberation War Affairs Minister Advocate Ahmed Azam Khan, State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Sultan Salauddin Tuku, and lawmaker Abdus Salam Pintu accompanied him during the visit.
Earlier in the morning, the premier arrived in Tangail by road from Dhaka and inaugurated the Farmer Card programme at Shaheed Maruf Stadium at 11:20 am. On the occasion of Pahela Baishakh-1433, he digitally launched the initiative at 12:22 pm.
After attending the distribution programme, Rahman opened the agricultural fair, visited stalls, and distributed goats to farmers. Fisheries, Livestock, and Agriculture Minister Mohammad Amin Ur Rashid, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Industry Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, and senior government officials were present.
The Prime Minister later offered Zohr prayers and had lunch at the Circuit House before continuing his engagements in Tangail.
