DHAKA, April 15 (V7N) — Notundhara Bangladesh (NDB) staged a protest in front of the National Press Club on Sunday evening, demanding an end to ongoing mob violence, including the recent killing of a Pir.

The program, chaired by NDB Chairman Momin Mehdi, featured lamp lighting, black flag displays, and a rally. Senior leaders including Bir Muktijoddha Fazlul Haque, Shanta Farzana, Chandan Sengupta, and Al Amin Bairagi addressed the gathering.

Mehdi said the country is facing a dual crisis: rising prices of essentials like rice, oil, and pulses, alongside escalating mob attacks. He accused “so‑called Towhidi Janata and anti‑freedom forces” of inciting violence, adding: “Attacks have not stopped, false cases have not stopped, rapes have not decreased, and brutal killings have not stopped.” He urged the government to take strict steps against Jamaat‑Shibir and anti‑freedom activists, and to ensure public safety through a Public Safety Act that protects all citizens equally.

Leaders also criticized political opportunism, alleging that conspirators had entered parliament by “selling the July spirit.” They demanded fair investigation and trial of killings such as Hadi‑Dipur murders, and called for the deregistration of alliances including Jamaat‑NCP for “opposing independence.”

Speakers further demanded legal action against those who branded freedom fighters as traitors, including the late independence proclaimer Ziaur Rahman, in parliament. Sufi Abdur Rahman expressed solidarity with the protest.
