Tangail, Mar 18 (V7N) – As Eid approaches, traffic on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway has increased significantly, with homebound travelers heading to various parts of the country.
According to the Jamuna Bridge Authority, a total of 46,963 vehicles crossed the bridge in the last 24 hours. Of these, 19,445 vehicles were heading toward Dhaka, generating a toll of Tk 1.66 million, while 27,498 vehicles were traveling toward North Bengal, with toll collection amounting to Tk 1.72 million. The total toll collected in this period reached approximately Tk 3.9 million.
Syed Riaz Uddin, Executive Engineer of the Jamuna Bridge Site Office in Tangail, confirmed that despite the heavy traffic, no major traffic jams have been reported. During the Eid pilgrimage, vehicles are passing through nine toll booths on each side of the bridge, with two booths on each side dedicated exclusively for motorcycles.
Authorities have made necessary arrangements to maintain smooth traffic flow, while law enforcement personnel are monitoring the situation round the clock and working to prevent congestion.
