Dhaka, Sep 14 (V7N) – The Chief of the Maldives National Defence Force, Major General Ibrahim Hilmi, who is on an official visit to Bangladesh, met with Bangladesh Navy Chief Admiral M. Nazmul Hassan at the Naval Headquarters on Sunday morning.
During the meeting, the two sides held fruitful discussions on military cooperation and professional training, with both countries assuring mutual support to further strengthen ties between their armed forces.
A delegation from the Maldives National Defence Force, officials from the Maldives High Commission, and senior naval officers of Bangladesh were present at the meeting.
Earlier in the day, Major General Hilmi paid tribute to the martyrs of the 1971 Liberation War by laying a wreath at Shikha Anirban and received a guard of honour.
The visiting Maldivian defence chief has also held meetings with the Chief of Army Staff and the Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh.
As part of the visit, the Maldivian delegation will tour the National Defence College, Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory, and the Bangladesh Naval Academy in Dhaka. The delegation is scheduled to leave Dhaka on September 17, concluding a three-day official visit.
