Dhaka, Nov 02 (V7N)- The central committee of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has dissolved its Chuadanga and Meherpur district committees following the expiry of their terms, amid controversy surrounding a Facebook post by Chuadanga district unit President Shahjahan Khan about his son's HSC examination success.
The decision was announced in a press release signed by central committee Office Secretary Jahangir Alam on Sunday evening, November 1.
According to the press release, the decision was taken by the Chhatra Dal central parliament as the terms of both district committees had expired. New committees for the two units will be announced soon.
Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir approved the decision.
The development came after Shahjahan Khan's Facebook post celebrating his son Jonayeb Islam Mahi's success in the 2026 Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examination went viral on social media.
Mahi passed the examination from Chuadanga Government College. Following his son's achievement, Shahjahan shared a photograph on his personal Facebook account with a congratulatory message expressing his love, prayers and best wishes.
The incident sparked discussions on social media, drawing attention to the district Chhatra Dal president and his leadership position.
Shahjahan Khan was appointed president of the Chuadanga district Chhatra Dal committee in 2018, with Mominur Rahman Momin Malita serving as general secretary. No subsequent district committee had been formed since then.
The central committee has yet to announce a timeline for forming the new committees.
