Dhaka, Dec 25 (V7N)- After addressing a reception at the 300-foot area in Purbachal, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman left for Evercare Hospital to meet his mother, former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, on Thursday afternoon.

Tarique Rahman departed the reception stage at around 4:30 pm and headed to the hospital under tight security.

Earlier in the day, at 11:40 am, the Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight carrying Tarique Rahman landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. Upon leaving the airport, he took off his shoes, stepped on the soil of Bangladesh, and held a handful of soil in his hand, symbolizing his long-awaited return after more than 17 years abroad.

Tarique Rahman had departed from London's Heathrow Airport on Wednesday, accompanied by his wife, Dr. Zubaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman, and several leaders of the BNP's London chapter.

The reception and subsequent visit to his mother mark the beginning of Tarique Rahman’s active engagement in national politics following his return to Bangladesh.
