Dhaka, Dec 22 (V7N)- Ahead of the 13th National Assembly elections, BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is set to be registered as a voter on December 27.
Salahuddin Ahmed, a member of BNP’s Standing Committee, confirmed this after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission Building in Agargaon, Dhaka, on Monday.
The meeting began around 3 pm and was attended by Election Commissioner Rahmanel Machud and the Election Commission’s senior secretary. From the BNP side, apart from Salahuddin Ahmed, BNP Chairperson’s advisor Ismail Zabiullah and former EC acting secretary Dr. Mohammad Zakaria were present.

Tarique Rahman is scheduled to return to Dhaka on December 25, ending his more than 17-year exile abroad.
Salahuddin Ahmed also emphasized that maintaining law and order is the government’s responsibility. He expressed hope that the election environment remains fair and that the situation will gradually improve ahead of the polls.
