Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) — Inquilab Mancha spokesperson and Dhaka-8 independent candidate Sharif Osman Hadi remains in critical condition at Evercare Hospital after being shot on Friday (December 12).
Dr. Mohammad Abdul Ahad, neurosurgeon from Dhaka Medical College Hospital, visited Evercare Hospital on Sunday afternoon to assess Hadi's condition. He said Hadi underwent another CT scan in the morning, which revealed severe brain damage, a blood clot, and temporary kidney failure. The bullet penetrated the temporal region of the brain and damaged vital blood vessels. Some parts of the bullet have already been removed surgically.
Dr. Ahad added that Hadi’s lungs remain on life support and that he has a Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) of three, the same as during his operation. He confirmed that Hadi was shot at very close range.
Regarding the possibility of transferring Hadi abroad for treatment, Dr. Ahad said that his family has sent the medical summary to hospitals in Singapore and Thailand. The final decision will be made by Hadi’s family once responses are received from these hospitals.
It may be recalled that Hadi was shot in the Vijayanagar Box Culvert area of Dhaka on Friday afternoon. Following the incident, DMP has been conducting operations across the capital to apprehend the attackers. Meanwhile, the owner of the motorcycle used in the attack, Abdul Hannan, was arrested in Mohammadpur on Saturday night.
