Dhaka, Nov 04 (V7N)- BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir shared an emotional post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday afternoon, reflecting on his personal sacrifices, family life, and long political journey, while also assuring party leaders and activists ahead of the upcoming elections.
In the status posted at 1:07 PM, Fakhrul expressed gratitude for being nominated by the BNP to contest from Thakurgaon-1 constituency, writing,
“By the grace of Allah Almighty, BNP has nominated me for Thakurgaon-1 constituency! I express my gratitude and thanks to Begum Khaleda Zia, Tarique Rahman, and all the leaders. I express my sincere thanks to all the party workers for being with me for life!”
He went on to recall his early years in politics and the toll it took on his family life, sharing that when he decided to return to politics in 1987, his two young daughters and wife faced immense challenges due to his political commitments and frequent imprisonments.
“He [my wife] took my two daughters by the hand and took them to school and the doctor! I remembered that my eldest daughter would have an operation — I was in the car all night on the way to Dhaka so that I could be by her side. It was so painful, I was in the mosque when she was having the operation!” he wrote.
Mirza Fakhrul added that thousands of BNP leaders and activists also have such stories of sacrifice, saying he hopes to share more of his experiences in the future “if God wills.”
Addressing party members who were not nominated for the upcoming polls, he urged patience and unity:
“This election is my last election. Those who did not get the nomination, have faith — InshaAllah the party will give you due responsibility and respect!”
Concluding his post, the BNP leader sought prayers from all, writing,
“All of you will pray for me, pray for every leader and activist of our party. We will all be by your side and work together, InshaAllah!”
