Dhaka, Oct 31 (V7N)- Nagorik Oikya President Mahmudur Rahman Manna has accused the government and the Consensus Commission of deceiving the nation by altering the July Charter and omitting its Note of Distinction.

He made the allegation while speaking at a discussion marking the 53rd founding anniversary of the Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal–JSD on Friday (October 31).

Manna said there is no alternative to elections to resolve the current political crisis, adding that the government has created divisions among political parties. “The country is now going through a major crisis,” he remarked.

Questioning the credibility of the authorities, Manna said, “What will happen if those who are supposed to ensure a fair election turn out to be fraudsters?”

He further stated that the government will not succeed in its so-called ‘reform game’, reiterating that proper elections are the only way forward.

Criticizing opposition parties, he said that Jamaat is playing in the name of movement, and expressed concern about what might happen if the BNP joins the agitation.
