Dhaka, Oct 28 (V7N)- BNP Chairperson’s advisor Zainul Abdin Faruk has said that Jamaat-e-Islami’s demand to cancel the parliamentary elections if they are not fair is merely an excuse.
He made the remarks at a protest meeting organized by the Nationalist Ulema Party in front of the National Press Club on Tuesday (October 28) morning.
Calling on Jamaat to maintain political unity, the BNP leader said,
“Stay on the field with your programs. It is better not to talk about heaven in politics or create unnecessary divisions. If you have the courage, come to the elections.”
Faruk also warned that any attempt to sabotage the polls using religious sentiment would not be accepted by the people.
“No BNP leader or activist will allow anyone to stay in power without holding elections,” he added.
He further urged the government to hold the elections on the announced date, saying that the process should move forward without deviation “to the right or left.”
