Dhaka, Oct 18 (V7N) — BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has called on all political parties to set aside minor differences and participate in the upcoming national election to make it meaningful and inclusive.
He made the remarks while addressing the general meeting and conference of the Nationalist Workers' Union of the Water Development Board at Pani Bhaban on Saturday (October 18) afternoon.
Mirza Fakhrul said that the recent clash in front of the Parliament House was unexpected and urged all parties to act responsibly in the current political climate. “All activities should be oriented towards the Parliament,” he emphasized.
Referring to the signing of the historic July Charter, the BNP leader said, “Most political parties have signed it — this is a unique and historic event. It will contribute to making politics more transparent and to the institutional development of democracy.”
He further stated that the upcoming national election will determine whether Bangladesh moves toward liberal democratic politics or away from it.
