New York, Sep 27 (V7N) – BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has likened the speech delivered by Principal Advisor Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the United Nations General Assembly to that of former President Ziaur Rahman.

Speaking at an event titled “NRB Connect Day: Empowering Global Bangladeshis” in New York on Saturday, Fakhrul said:

“When Professor Yunus was speaking, I repeatedly felt that I was listening to the voice of President Ziaur Rahman. All the words of Ziaur Rahman’s dream of building a democratic, prosperous, and corruption-free country were coming out of Professor Yunus’s words.”

The BNP leader emphasized that the party remains open to the modern ideas of the youth, saying, “The young generation of the country thinks in a modern way, and BNP has the mentality to adopt their modern thinking.” He expressed hope that the youth will play a crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.

Referring to the July Movement, Fakhrul added, “The people of Bangladesh are natural fighters. In times of crisis, they know how to unite and resist. The month of July has proven that. I want to make it clear—BNP will do whatever benefits Bangladesh and its people.”

It may be noted that six political leaders, including Mirza Fakhrul, are currently in New York alongside Professor Yunus as part of his participation in the 80th UN General Assembly session.
