Pabna, July 17 (V7N) — Begum Khaleda Zia’s Special Assistant and Central Coordinator of the BNP’s Labour Wing, Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, paid tribute to slain activist Abu Sayeed during a political gathering on Wednesday, July 16, in Faridpur upazila of Pabna district. He described the young man from northern Bangladesh as “the first to pierce the throne of fascism with his sacrifice,” commemorating the first anniversary of his death.
 
Addressing BNP and affiliated party activists at an open-air meeting, Biswas said the political momentum created after Sayeed's death dramatically shifted the national climate. He claimed that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s “retreat” had ended India’s so-called regional dominance over Bangladesh. “The people of this country no longer want to live under India’s shadow. The martyrs of the 2024 uprising have pushed the country to a new height,” he said.
 
Biswas invoked the legacy of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman and reiterated that Khaleda Zia’s son and BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman is ready to return to serve the people. “He is the beacon of hope for the distressed, and the nation waits for his return. A golden chapter will begin under BNP’s leadership.”
 
Calling for national unity, he urged all factions to rally behind the BNP's symbol, the paddy sheaf, to ensure electoral victory. “Let us come together as one. We will win, Inshallah,” Biswas declared.
 
The event also marked the initial nomination of Krishibid Hasan Jamil Tuhin, President of the Central Farmers’ Wing of BNP, as a potential candidate for Pabna-3 constituency. In his remarks, Tuhin pledged to work for the welfare of the constituency’s people and called for collective support.
 
The meeting was chaired by former Faridpur Upazila BNP President Zahurul Islam Bakul and moderated by Enamul Haque, secretary of the municipal BNP. BNP Joint Secretary General Abdus Salam Azad spoke as the main speaker.
 
Other prominent participants included Rajshahi Divisional BNP Assistant Organising Secretary Amirul Islam Alim, Krishak Dal Vice President Mamunur Rashid Khan, Pabna BNP Member Secretary Advocate Masud Khondakar, Joint Convener Anisul Haque Babu, Abu Obaida Sheikh Tuhin, Noor Mohammad Masum Boga, former BNP Organising Secretary Mahmudunnabi Swapon, former Upazila BNP Convenor Abdul Dayyan Monju, District Krishak Dal President Abul Hashem, District Labour Wing General Secretary Abdul Gafur, former Municipal BNP Secretary Dr. Ahmed Mostafa Noman, and District Jubo Dal Convenor Elias Ahmed Himel Rana.
 
Party leaders from Chatmohar, Bhangura, and various areas of Faridpur were also in attendance.
