Dhaka, July 13 (V7N) – BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said that the Bangladesh Nationalist Party cannot be defeated through bomb attacks or fear tactics. He made these remarks at a press conference held Sunday night, following the cocktail explosion incident near the BNP central office in Nayapaltan.
Referring to the cocktail blasts, Rizvi said, “No one is being named because such incidents are not being investigated transparently. But it is the responsibility of the interim government to identify those responsible. Even if the state is involved in destroying the political environment, the consequences will not be good.”
He accused certain political elements of trying to destabilize the country through violence. “Some political parties cannot behave normally. They don’t consider the consequences of their actions. There is a force—deep within the state—trying to achieve its goals through terrorism. This cocktail blast is just another proof. This is Sheikh Hasina's political culture,” he alleged.
Rizvi reiterated BNP’s zero tolerance stance against any form of terrorism, extortion, or encroachment in the name of the party. “BNP cannot be suppressed with cocktail explosions. Bangladesh will not be turned into a puppet state. Sheikh Hasina couldn’t do it in the last 16 years, and if they think bombs will make us afraid now, they are living in a fool's paradise,” he warned.
Earlier, three cocktail bombs exploded outside the BNP headquarters on Saturday night. While no casualties were reported, the incident has triggered strong political reactions and demands for an impartial investigation.
