Kaunia, June 6 (V7N) – National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain has said that the aspirations of the people could have been fulfilled if the upcoming elections were announced only after the implementation of the July Declaration and July Charter.

He made the remarks while inaugurating the NCP’s Kaunia Upazila office on Friday (June 6) night.

In response to the Chief Advisor’s recent announcement of the election schedule, Akhtar emphasized the need for visible reforms and progress in the justice process within the declared timeframe. He added that the NCP would not object to holding elections once these measures are ensured.

“The people want a level playing field and an impartial administration,” he said, calling for institutional neutrality to guarantee fair competition.

He also issued a cautionary note, warning that if the upcoming elections under the new constitution fail to reflect the public mandate, “the people of Bangladesh will be forced to take to the streets again.”
