BNP leader Ishraque Hossain has warned that the ongoing movement will be intensified if the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayor is not officially sworn in and handed over duties at the earliest.

He issued the warning to the interim government while joining a protest and sit-in program at Nagar Bhaban on Thursday.

“This interim government has failed to hand over the responsibilities to the mayor. Despite the court’s verdict, the government is stalling. Disobeying a court order is tantamount to contempt,” said Ishraque Hossain.

He further said: “If this government cannot even administer the oath to a mayor, how will it swear in 300 elected members of parliament in the future?”

As per earlier announcement, Ishraque’s supporters began their protest and sit-in inside the main gate of Nagar Bhaban. For the past 15 days, the movement has continued under the banner Dhakabashi, undeterred even by rain.
