Pabna, MAY 27 (V7N) – Nur Mohammad Masum Bogha, joint convener of Pabna district BNP, today stated that the "honor and popularity" of the BNP "cannot be destroyed by conspiracies and spreading propaganda." He made these remarks while addressing what he described as a "special organization" (referring to Jamaat-e-Islami) that is allegedly collaborating with "anti-discrimination students" to spread propaganda against the BNP. Bogha asserted that the BNP's popularity would be "tested in the next national elections."
Bogha was speaking as the chief guest at a workers' rally organized by Dhopadah Union BNP in Santhia Upazila of Pabna on Monday afternoon (May 26) to implement Tarique Rahman's 31-point plan.
Referring again to Jamaat-e-Islami, the BNP leader further alleged, "You have occupied various educational institutions, occupied banks, insurance, occupied various institutions. You are silently continuing your unjust oppression. And you are engaged in propaganda against a well-organized party like BNP. No matter what dream you have, your dream will never come true, God willing. Because the country and the people of the country are with BNP."
Nur Masum Bogha also acknowledged that "some infiltrators from the Awami League have registered their names in the BNP and are involved in some misdeeds. BNP will not take responsibility for them. BNP cannot take responsibility."
Speaking as a special guest at the rally, Haji Yunus Ali, former vice-president of the Central Weavers' Party, addressed the Chief Adviser, stating, "Don't listen to the young boys, announce the election date. You say the election will be held between January and June. But why? You give a specific date. We want the election by next December."
Masudul Haque Masud, former member of the Central Youth League, remarked, "During August 5, we saw a special group that took a very strong stance against 1971. Although we gradually softened their stance after understanding it, they still haven't stopped. We hate those who made a business out of 1971. We also hate those who want to make a business out of the achievements of August 5."
The program was presided over by Dhopadah Union BNP convener Kamruzzaman Selim and held at the Naria Gadai High School grounds in Santhia Upazila. Special guests included Salauddin Khan PPM, executive member of the central BNP and member secretary of the upazila BNP; Haji Yunus Ali, former vice-president of the central Tanti Dal; Masudul Haque Masud, former member of the central Jubo Dal; and Ilias Ahmed Biplob, convener of the upazila Jubo Dal.
Among those present at the event were BNP leaders Abul Kashem Kashu, Akterzzaman Khokon, Rafiqul Islam Sardar, Upazila Jubo Dal senior joint convener Monirul Islam Raja, member secretary Mizanur Rahman Babul, Dhopadah Union Jubo Dal president Asif Al Alim Rajib, Santhia Municipality Jubo Dal senior joint convener Jadiuzzaman Ripon, former Chhatra Dal leader Ashiq Iqbal Russell, and many others.
The event commenced with guests hoisting the national and party flags to the tune of the national anthem, followed by the inauguration of the rally by releasing pigeons. Notably, local Jamaat-e-Islami activist Abdul Hakim joined the BNP at the rally and was welcomed with flower garlands by BNP leaders.
