Dhaka, Sept 23 (V7N) – Women and Children Affairs Minister Prof Dr AZM Zahid Hossain today said no child will be left out of education, as the government is making strides to build an inclusive society.
"The present government is working to build an inclusive and humane Bangladesh where people from all sections of society, from newborns (just one-day old) to the oldest citizens, will be brought under the same umbrella," he said while addressing an event titled "Young Journalist Changemaker: Voice for Vulnerable Children" at Bishwo Shahitto Kendro in Bangla Motor area.
Non-profit organization Local Education and Economic Development Organization (LEEDO) organized the event.
Zahid, also the social welfare minister, said moral education should begin within the family to help children grow into responsible human beings with humanitarian values. To protect and rehabilitate children without families, the government operates various Shishumoni Nibash and Shishu Nibash facilities, he said, adding that along with shelter and education, these institutions also provide skills-development training to prepare children for future employment.
He said it is the government's responsibility to support any public-welfare social initiative or activity.
The government has been implementing various programmes to protect the rights of children and ensure their access to education, healthcare, and social safety nets. The Ministry of Women and Children Affairs has been working on multiple fronts, including the expansion of child protection services, prevention of child marriage and child labour, and rehabilitation of street children. The event organized by LEEDO highlighted the role of young journalists in amplifying the voices of vulnerable children and advocating for their rights. LEEDO, a non-profit organization, has been working for the welfare of street children and marginalized communities in Bangladesh for over two decades.
