Hyderabad, Sept 23 (V7N) – The Indian Journalists Union (IJU) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death of Zubeen Garg, the legendary Assamese singer, songwriter, actor, and filmmaker, who passed away in Singapore while scuba diving. He was 52.
Fondly known as “Zubeen da,” Garg had traveled to Singapore to participate in the three-day North East Festival, a cultural showcase aimed at promoting the region’s heritage on a global platform. His sudden passing has left fans and admirers across Assam and India in shock.
In a statement, IJU President K. Sreenivas Reddy and Secretary-General Balwinder Jammu conveyed their solidarity with the people of Assam during this time of mourning. “Zubeen Garg’s songs will keep him alive in the hearts of his fans all over the country,” the IJU leaders said. They extended their condolences to his wife, family, and countless admirers, praying for his soul to rest in peace.
