Sylhet, Nov 25 (V7N) – Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) has postponed its previously scheduled Central Student Union (SUCSU) election from December 17 to January 20 next year. The announcement was made Sunday through a press release signed by University Registrar Syed Shalim Mohammad Abdul Qadir.

The release stated that an open discussion meeting was held in the conference room on the fourth floor of the Administration Building-1, attended by leaders of all political, non-political, social, and cultural student organizations, as well as election commissioners and university officials.

Based on the consensus and recommendations of all participants, the administration decided to reschedule the SUCSU election to January 20, with official approval.

Acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Sajedul Karim said, “Students had been raising concerns for several days that a large portion of the general student body would be absent on December 17. Conducting a vote-less SUCSU election—especially after 28 years—would not be acceptable. Considering this, we convened a discussion, and after consulting all stakeholders, January 20 was finalized as the new election date.”
