Dhaka, Oct 15 (V7N) – In Morelganj, Bagerhat, nearly 3,000 teachers from 127 secondary schools and madrassas have been observing a two-day strike, disrupting academic activities. On Tuesday, the strike was evident across various educational institutions. As part of the central program, all secondary schools, Dakhil, and Senior Madrassas in the upazila are participating in the ongoing action.

Teachers are marking attendance daily, but some students, arriving for classes, are returning home due to the lack of lessons. Parents and students, however, expressed support for the teachers’ legitimate demands.

Muhammad Yunus Ali Akon, headmaster of Morelganj Town Secondary School and president of the Upazila Secondary School Teachers’ Association, along with acting headmaster Sakaawat Hossain Helal of Abdul Aziz Memorial Secondary School, confirmed that the strike would continue until their demands are met.

Secondary Education Officer Md. Sahidul Islam stated that discussions are ongoing with higher authorities to resolve the teachers’ protest. He added that, in the meantime, students are facing difficulties attending classes, but a solution is expected soon.
