Benapole, May 07 (V7N) — A large consignment of industrial explosives imported from India has arrived in Benapole Land Port under tight security arrangements.

According to port authorities, the shipment entered the port on Wednesday (May 6) afternoon in three Indian trucks. The first phase of the import includes 40 metric tons of emulsion explosives and 100 kilometers of detonating cord intended for use by Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited in Dinajpur.

The explosives were supplied by Bengaluru-based company Keltech Energies Limited.

Authorities said the consignment has been stored in a designated secure shed after completion of customs formalities. Special security measures have been implemented due to the sensitive nature of the materials.

The explosives are scheduled to be transported on Friday (May 8) under police escort to the explosive storage facility of Madhyapara Granite Mining Company Limited in Dinajpur.

Benapole Land Port Director Shamim Hossain said all procedures are being carried out under strict supervision and according to prescribed security protocols involving customs and other relevant agencies.
